About Todd

Todd grew up in Tolono Illinois and started golf at age 12.  He was the number 1 player on his small high school team.  In 1981, Todd dropped out of College and moved to Arizona where he suddenly found himself as an apprentice with the John Jacobs Golf school.

Shelby Futch, the owner of the Jacob’s organization took Todd under his wing.  Shelby encouraged Todd to join the P.G.A. program as an apprentice and Todd did that in 1984.  His first job as a pro was as Craig Bunker’s assistant at Davenport Country Club in Iowa. 

Todd was young and naïve and after the summer of 1984 found himself without a job in the golf business.  After humbling himself, Shelby took him back as an apprentice with the golf schools.  Through this tough initial experience as a pro,  Todd recalls that it was this difficult experience that led him to ask the foundational questions of life…Why am here, who am I, what happens when I die, ect…

Todd was to find the answer to those questions and more through surrendering his life to Jesus Christ.  Todd recalls, “My life changed completely.  I was now working for God, not men”.  

Shelby Futch was very kind, receiving him back into the fold of the Jacob’s organization.  In 1985 Todd became an instructor with the John Jacobs’ golf school. In 1987 a Head Instructor.  Todd has had the privilege of being with John Jacob’s himself on many occasions, learning from him personally and teaching with him. Todd treasures John as his mentor and friend.

By 1991 Todd had been the head instructor at many of the Jacob’s school locations through out the country.  Over the years, Todd has taught over 30, 000 students of all levels, worldwide.  China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Malaysia are just a few of the countries Todd has been invited to teach.

Through the mid nineties Todd and his wife Micki spent most of their lives reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ in Japan and teaching golf in Asia with few accolades.  Todd and Micki lived in Japan from 1995 -1999 and then again from 2003 – 2005.  Todd and Micki have twin daughters adopted from China, named Anna Grace and Naomi Joy

Todd is one of the most unique golf instructors in the world.  He has not only an incredible gift to help people of all levels improve, but has a great way of giving people just what they need when they need it.
